Millennium Park sits at the center of the Loop. The rule that matters: you ride to the park, you do not ride in it. Plan the approach, the lock and the walk. More trip planning is in the visit guide.

Where the park starts

Millennium Park is bordered by Randolph Street on the north, Columbus Drive on the east, Monroe Street on the south, and Michigan Avenue on the west1. It opened in July 20044. Approach from any of those four streets.

Ride in by the Lakefront Trail

The Lakefront Trail is the cleanest line to the park. Its Grant Park section runs from the Chicago River to Roosevelt Road6. The whole trail runs from Ardmore Avenue to 71st Street, with separate bike and pedestrian paths since 20186. Leave the trail near Randolph Street and ride west. On Bike the Drive day, riders arriving on the trail after 6 a.m. cross DuSable Lake Shore Drive at Randolph Street or the Museum Campus9; see the Bike the Drive guide.

Full trail detail is on the Lakefront Trail page.

For a longer ride, rent by the day. A comfort hybrid at Bobby’s Bike Hike is $39.99 for a full day8. See downtown bike rentals for options.

By train and by car

CTA riders exit at Lake on the Red Line or Washington on the Blue Line and walk east1.
