When the day rate wins

Take the day rate sooner than you think. At Bike & Roll, a city bike costs 2 × $15 = $30 for two hours but 3 × $15 = $45 for three, against $35 for the day1. The comfort bike is 2 × $20 = $40 for two hours and 3 × $20 = $60 for three, against $45 for the day2. At Bobby’s, a comfort hybrid costs 2 × $14.99 = $29.98 for two hours but 3 × $14.99 = $44.97 for three, against $34.99 for the half day3.

A family adds up quickly. At Bobby’s, two adult comfort hybrids and one kids bike for a full day come to 2 × $39.99 + $29.99 = $109.973. More in kids bike rental in Chicago.

Divvy rates

Divvy is Chicago’s city-owned bikeshare7. It charges by the minute.

Day pass $19.90 for unlimited 3-hour classic rides in 24 hours5

Ebike, day pass Free unlock + $0.44 a minute5

A two-hour classic ride costs $1 + 120 min × $0.20 = $25.00 on a single ride5. At $0.44 a minute, an hour on a Divvy ebike costs 60 min × $0.44 = $26.40 before any unlock fee5. Compare the two options in Divvy vs a bike rental shop, and see every plan in Divvy pricing.
