Divvy sells time, not bikes. Every plan buys a different amount of free minutes, and the plan that fits depends on how long each ride runs.

Single ride

A single ride is built for one-way trips. Download the app, pay $1 to unlock and $0.20 a minute1. A 30-minute classic ride costs $1 + 30 min × $0.20 = $7.00. Three of those in a day cost 3 × $7.00 = $21.00, more than the $19.90 day pass1.

Riders without a smartphone can buy single ride passes for classic bikes at a Divvy kiosk2. The fee for a lost or stolen bike is $12002.

Day pass

The day pass costs $19.901. It covers unlimited classic bike rides in a 24-hour period, each up to 3 hours1. A ride that runs longer than 3 hours costs $0.20 a minute after that1. A four-hour ride on a day pass therefore adds 60 min × $0.20 = $12.001.

Two details matter at checkout. Per-minute prices round up to the next minute4. And a $25 authorization may be placed on the account when you take out a bike or scooter4. The day pass is sold in the app4.

Annual membership

Annual membership is $143.90 a year1. It includes 45 free minutes on every classic bike ride, free unlocks and lower ebike and scooter rates than a single ride1. Past 45 minutes, a classic bike costs $0.20 a minute1.

In July 2025 the city cut the annual price to $99 for new and lapsed members3. A lapsed member is one whose membership expired at least 30 days earlier3. Members with an active annual membership stay at $143.90 and cannot claim the $99 rate3,6. The Divvy pricing page still lists $99 as a limited-time offer for new members1.

When membership pays off

Seven day passes cost 7 × $19.90 = $139.30. Eight cost 8 × $19.90 = $159.201. So membership at $143.90 wins once you ride on eight different days in a year. At the $99 rate, five day passes (5 × $19.90 = $99.50) already cost more1.

The comparison has a catch. A day pass allows 3-hour rides, while members get 45 minutes before the meter starts1. Long rides favor the day pass. Short hops across the city favor membership.

Ebikes and scooters

Ebikes and scooters are priced by the minute on every plan. Without a membership an ebike costs $0.44 a minute, with a free unlock on a day pass and a $1 unlock on a single ride1. Annual members pay $0.20 a minute1. In July 2025 the city also capped member trips of 30 to 45 minutes at the cost of a 30-minute ride3. A 30-minute member ebike ride comes to 30 min × $0.20 = $6.001. Scooters cost $0.44 a minute without a membership and $0.34 for members1. See Divvy ebikes for the full ebike rules.

Parking an ebike or scooter outside a station or a public rack adds $3.00 for non-members and $2.00 for members5.

Cheaper ways in

Qualifying residents can join for $5 a year through Divvy for Everyone1. In July 2025 the city also removed unlock fees for non-members on trips that start in designated equity priority areas3. Bike Angels who move bikes from crowded stations to empty ones earn points toward ebike credits and free membership extensions1.
