At a Chicago festival, the bike beats the car. You skip road closures and parking, and the big events run a valet. The catch is the bag-check line: bikes never go inside. Browse more dates on the events calendar.

Lollapalooza

Lollapalooza runs in Grant Park. The 2026 festival ran Thursday, July 30, through Sunday, August 2, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day2.

The valet is free. In 2026 it stood at the corner of Balbo and Michigan, with self-serve bike parking at the same corner1. Bring your own lock and helmet1. The festival’s support page said REVERB operated the valet in 20253.

Bicycles do not go inside. They sit on the festival’s prohibited-items list with skateboards, scooters and wagons1. Large chains are on the list too1.

Travel light. All bags are searched before entry, and leaving bags at home gives the fastest entry1. Hydration packs are allowed if completely empty and limited to two pockets1.

Plan around the closures. Balbo between Columbus and DuSable Lake Shore Drive was closed from July 15 to August 9 in 20261. Jackson between Michigan and Columbus closed July 27 to August 31. The City barred vehicles from stopping or parking in bicycle lanes during the 2026 festival2. Ride in from the Lakefront Trail; the Red, Blue, Green and Brown lines also stop within walking distance if you need a backup1.

No bike? Bobby’s Bike Hike offered a 1-day rental for $32 and a 3-day rental for $75 for the 2026 dates, each with a helmet, lock and map4.

Bike the Drive

The post-ride festival at Butler Field in Grant Park runs from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Stash your bike with the valet at no charge5. The full event guide is on the Bike the Drive page.

Millennium Park concerts

Bicycles are on the park’s prohibited-items list, and a security perimeter with bag check is in place for all events6. Lock up outside the perimeter. For the ride in, see biking to Millennium Park.

History of the free valet

Free valet parking is an old Chicago habit. In 2013, the archived events page of the Millennium Park bike station said valet bicycle parking was free at summer performances in Millennium Park and festivals in Grant Park7. That station is gone, and each festival now runs its own valet1,5.
